There are seasons when opposition does not come because you are doing something wrong, but because you are standing in the place God assigned you. Isaac’s story in Genesis 26 reminds us that the presence of conflict does not cancel the promise of God. Isaac faced resistance, jealousy, contention, and strife, yet he kept digging. He kept moving. He kept trusting. And eventually, God brought him to Rehoboth — the broad place — where Isaac declared, “For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”
This week’s devotional, “Opposition Can’t Stop Me,” is a declaration for every believer who has faced resistance while trying to obey God. Opposition may delay you, frustrate you, or force you to move, but it cannot stop what God has spoken over your life. When one well is contested, God can lead you to another. When one door is resisted, God can open a wider place. When the enemy tries to stop the flow, God knows how to release living water in unexpected places.
Through the story of Isaac, we will learn that opposition can reveal our identity, refine our faith, strengthen our endurance, and position us for greater fruitfulness. The enemy may fight the well, but he cannot stop the God who gives the water. The struggle does not mean God has abandoned you. Sometimes the struggle is the pathway to the place where God makes room.
This Week’s Themes
Day 1 — Keep Digging
Opposition does not mean stop. Isaac reopened the wells his father had dug, reminding us to honor what God has already established.
Day 2 — Don’t Let Contention Control You
Isaac did not waste his future fighting over Esek. Some battles are not worth losing your peace over.
Day 3 — Move Beyond Strife
At Sitnah, Isaac faced hostility, but he kept moving. Strife may be real, but it does not have to become your residence.
Day 4 — God Will Make Room
At Rehoboth, Isaac finally entered the broad place. God knows how to create space for what He has placed inside of you.
Day 5 — Opposition Becomes Confirmation
By the end of the chapter, even Isaac’s enemies recognized that the Lord was with him. Faithfulness through opposition becomes a testimony.
