Leader: Know ye that the Lord, He is God; it is He that has made us, and not we ourselves.
People: We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Leader: Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.
People: Be thankful unto Him and bless His name.
ALL: For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

🕯️ LITURGY OF LIGHT — “Thanksgiving at the Altar”

[For Tea-Light Processional - Led by Pastor Hill]

(keyboardist plays softly “Gratefulness”)

Leader:

In the beginning, God said, “Let there be light,”
and light broke through the darkness.
Today, we gather in that same light—
the light that guides us, keeps us, and reminds us of His goodness.

People:

We walk in the light of the Lord,
and we give thanks for the light that never fades.

Leader:

Scripture declares,
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?”
This morning, we come with gratitude,
remembering that God has been our Light
in every shadowed valley and every uncertain path.

People:

Your light has led us,
Your light has covered us,
Your light has kept us.

Leader:

Every blessing we’ve received,
every door You opened,
every moment You carried us—
all of it came from Your hand
and was lit by Your love.

People:

Today we bring our thanks to the altar.
We bring our light in honor of the Light of the world.

Leader:

As you come, hold your tea light as a symbol—
a reminder that God’s faithfulness shines in our past,
His goodness surrounds our present,
and His glory guards our future.

With grateful hearts,
we now bring our light to the altar.

People:

We bring thanksgiving.
We bring praise.
We bring our light to You, Lord.

(begin singing selection: Grateful)

Congregation proceeds to the altar, placing their tea lights one by one.
After all lights are placed and people return to their seats:

Leader (closing declaration):

Lord, behold the lights Your people have brought—
each flame a testimony,
each glow a remembrance,
each candle a declaration that
Your light still shines in us and through us.

Let these lights remind us:
We are a people kept by Your mercy,
carried by Your grace,
and guided by Your light.

ALL:

Amen.
We walk in Your light,
and we give You thanks.
