Date: This Saturday, January 16, 2016, 12pm
Location: 29th & Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Indianapolis, IN
As we move into a brand new year we have not lost the faith in believing for a turnaround in the violence that has gripped our city in the year 2015. Our faith tells us that all is not lost no matter what it has been and what it presently looks like. As people of faith in the Prince of Peace - Jesus Christ - we will continue to carry the banner of peace in our city until we see the fruit of our faith manifest.
The Drive-by Prayer Vigil Ministry has entered its 10th year of praying for our city and with families of homicide victims. The first 7 years we witnessed a constant downturn of homicide numbers in our city. Beginning with year eight, there has been a major attack against our ministry with spiritual casualties and distractions that resulted in our prayer intensity to wane. We have since recovered and ever recovering with a mandate to return to the battle and declare war in the Spirit like never before.
This Saturday we are calling all prayer intercessors, church members and community advocates who are ready to pray and stake a claim for a violence free city in 2016 to meet us at 29th & Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street - one of the Indy's six focus areas of violence.
One local headline actual labeled these six areas, "Indianapolis' killing zones". These six areas account for only 4.7 percent of the Indianapolis population, but for 27 percent of the homicides and 30 percent of non-fatal shootings. It's time for a change!
"Stake a claim" to announce that something belongs to you
It's time for us to take ownership of what rightfully belongs to us - our city! We're taking back our city in the name of Jesus Christ and serving notice to our spiritual foe (the mastermind behind it all) - Not on our watch! Not in our city! Not another year!
